Hi,

Sorry guys dont know much about this yet but I basically water my plants once everyday. Not too much water but just i fill the pot once and let it drain out and thats it. Yesterday was a hot day and i did not water the trees.

Today i noticed the pomegranate leaves look dull and im not sure if thats me not watering enough or too much. Any ideas?

Does the soil feel wet or dry?

I watered it before posting so would be wet now.

Hey I'm no expert, but I have a pomegranate and I'm in melbourne aswell and for the last few weeks I've been watering mine at least twice a day. If it's in a bonsai pot I think you might need to do the same don't think mine would've survived the last week we had with 1 drink a day.

But what about earlier today or yesterday? The leaves but they look a bit dehydrated. If it was dry earlier in the day the leaves might ven go brown and fall off but many trees will sprout new shoots if you have watered it in time. BTW if a pot has dried out I usually soak the pot in a container of water for a while. Dry potting mix is very hard to wet so just sprinkling a dry pot will not water it properly. Soaking it will allow the water to really penetrate into the centre of the pot.
There could be other things going on that I cannot see because the picture is very small.

Much better thanks. I can see clearly no that the leaves are all droopy. I can also see some drooping tips on the branches which is almost certainly from being dry. Pomegranate is adapted to dry and is pretty tough so it will probably recover from this without too much damage :fc:
You definitely need to change your watering to stop this from recurring. Like Tony I need to water each morning and evening during summer to keep my bonsai from getting dry like this. In little pots you might also need to take further measures like humidity tray.
Tonight I would recommend soaking the pot in water to make sure it is properly wet.

It won't hurt to soak for 12 hours. I usually leave them for anywhere between 30 min to 12 hours. Being flooded for up to 3 days will not usually hurt a plant so no need to worry about a few hours.

Thanks guy. I watered it three times at 30 minute intervals yesterday evening. Then didn't soak it as rain was predicted and it did rain. Looked a bit better this morning but unfortunately the fig i was going to repot has taken damage due to winds or not sure if it was a cat or something. Poor thing.

Getting rid of that broken branch greatly improves the taper of the tree!

You will still need the cutters though. There is plenty more that needs to be cut off this one.
