Trident Maple 3/4 Chop

Thought I'd try a little experiment today. Have seen something similar on the net...Going for 1/2 to 3/4 chops. The chopped area is supposed to heal over much quicker than a normal chop, that being due to the fact that the top of tree is still alive on top and is still circulating energy up and around the wound. Once the chopped area is totally healed you can the proceed to remove more... and then eventually taking the remaining off. I was quite lucky with this tree... although I'm going to loose the top I have the new leader in place and a few branches and buds down low that can be selected for future side branches. Will keep you all updated and will keep up to date with the progress of the tree.
Will be feeding heavily for the rest of the summer to produce as much growth as possible....hopefully getting a head start on the healing process.........................
Here are a few pics
