Unplanned collection

Today I went and chopped a few trees on my dad's property in view to dig them up next year and have some bonsai from the place I grew up.
When chopping this on the soggy edge if a gully, I noticed alot of roots, thick and fine ones, after moving some leaf litter. I gave it a wiggle and decided to break it off the main part if the tree. I got it off with all roots in tacked.
Unfortunately I had already chopped it so there is no foliage on this stump. I also didn't get and pics during the day!!!
Anyway here it is just in a tub with normal potting mix. I plan to keep it in a shaded area and wet at all times similar to where I collected it. I also made sure to bury the slump nice and deep in the soil.
Thoughts? I THINK it's a melaleuca quinquenervia???
