Japanese Maple Anyone!?

Visited our local CFA headquarters early this week and they have two lovely Japanese maples at the entrance to the building. They have a lovely green ground cover growing underneath them that looked like moss as I was approaching from the car park.
Upon closer inspection, this is what I found.
No stratification for these and grew quite successfully. Goes to show you can't beat fresh seed!

Haha how awesome! Did you pluck up a couple and put them in your pocket for safe keeping?

I have a Japanese Maple in our back garden and this is exactly what is underneath it too. I have gently lifted about 20 of these that are now sitting in a seedling tray in my little greenhouse and they seem very happy.
Will post a pic tomorrow.
Cheers

Interesting.
My front yard is absolutely covered in some sort of seedlings too. I think either Ash or Birch. Maybe it's the consistent wet weather we have had this winter?
