Earl's wood hardener and lime sulphur

Hey guys,
I have had trouble contacting the manufacturer and wondered if anyone knows why it is not recommended to apply earl's wood hardener to wood previously treated with lime sulphur? I have two trees with deteriorating deadwood that I have used lime sulphur on a number of times over the years and would like to treat the rotting areas rather than remove them.
I have also considered applying a well thinned down coat of epoxy to the rotting and vulnerable areas and then brushing off any shine left behind. What are people's thoughts on this? Ever been done before? I don't think I would dare do this in an area where the solution might soak into some live wood or even down to the substrate.
Any help with this is appreciated guys. Thank in advance.
Cheers,
Ces.
