Plum Dig - Raft

There has been some comment that I am trying to promote plum as bonsai over everything else, and that could be true!
The other day I had the opportunity to dig a "raft" style plum, and so here is my new baby. It was a good relatively easy dig (from a garden) but I am not sure what particular type of plum it is yet.
I used the dig theory of put your new tree in the smallest possible pot, and cut of everything that is not trunk related. When new shoots sprout, keep then all for the first two years or so and use them by wiring everything into an empty space. As the tree matures you can then take some of the unnecessary ones out, but definitely keep them all in the early stages.
I'll let you know how the theory works out.

Now that i think could push the Plum "Promotion theory" over the edge Watto. That is a great find and i am experiencing a little "Plum envy"

Anything for you Kirky.
The branch development in the last two years has been good so the original theory was sound (to this point). Next step is to wire into position all the branches and see how that goes. When the branches get too crowded, thin out to leave enough room for the fruit to hang.
The flowers are OK this year so I hope there will be at least a couple of plums so I can positively ID this plant.
Hmmm, I need a pot!!!!
