Hey guys , scored this today . Best thing about being out and about during the day doing jobs in peoples houses .
To get it into the pot I only needed to remove about 15 -20% of its roots .
Just looking for some advice on dhape and pruning .
The full scale ones apparently need trimming after flowering , but being a bonsai and repotted should I give it a hair cut now or leave it as to not stress the tree.
Any other advice would be appreciated also .

Did this come out of a pot or from the garden? I'm assuming it was in a pot as you state that you only removed 10-15% of roots...

I generally cut back trees that I collect but I know there's a theory that leaving the top intact will help stimulate new roots.
In particular I try not to allow freshly transplanted trees to flower. The theory is that they put a lot of energy into the flowers trying to reproduce instead of growing new roots.

It was from the garden but only very shallow roots took nothing to get it up .
I havent allowed it to flower . Thats how it was .
I have heard that allowing to flower wastes precious energy .
That is why it got me thinking one hand trim the tree and stress it out . Or leave it and use alot of energy on flowers .

Remove all the flowers. Water well with seasol weekly over foliage as well. In six weeks if all still looks well you can start feeding. Could you advise dimention of the pot as it looks small. Hard to judge in pics.

Will ditch all those lovely flowers tomorrow .
Pot is approx 190 diameter and 75 deep with a slight taper to the base
I should go larger for the health of the tree shouldn't I ?

Looks a bit "long" to me.
Of be cutting back to last Green leaves on every branch.
This should reduce length and promote new buds to begin ramification wiring and further interest.

Personally I think the pot is a bit small as its just come out of the garden. However if you do trim right back as per Boics advice you may get away with it.
