been in bonsai for a year or so, but am yet to actually style a tree, as i have no stock anywhere near ready for a style.
bought this little juniper awhile ago for 6 dollars just for something to practice wiring on.
started wiring last night and noticed a bit of a tree showing through so i wired and styled the whole thing.
didnt get a before photo until half way through though.

also sorry for so much wire, but i had nothing else thick enough to make the bends i wanted.

any critique welcome

Multiple wraps of thinner wire is a good method actually so long as there are no crossing wires, all good.
The top left branch heading up @45 deg, I would bend that down and back so nearer to horizontal. as it is it makes 2 apexes for the tree

yeah i agree about the top branch, but i tried to bring it down a bit and it started to split away from the trunk, so i decided to leave it to heal for the time being,

that branch was actually the apex on the tree when i got it too, but i cut most of the branches off so that it should hopefully start growing up from the new apex

You should wire this way when bringing braches down.

sorry but i don't quiet know what you mean. do you mean i need the wire to pass over the top of the branch before transitioning from trunk to branch, or have i just done my coils in the wrong direction?

There are a few good wiring diagrams in there. Mike was saying that when you're wiring a branch, you want to come around the back of the trunk, then around the branch... if that makes sense.

What I mean is that yes when bring down a branch (as you want to do here) the first coil should come over the branch not under it. That way as you pull the branch down, the wire tightens and holds it in place. Now, looking from the front of the tree, if you are bringing the branch toward you as well as down, you would wire a right branch anti clockwise and a left branch clockwise. And opposite for opposite etc.

There is also a mistake in these diagrams. Under the word ''MORE'' third pic down, the top branch is wired correctly but the other is not.

made a few tweaks and stuck it in a bunnings dish a couple of weekends ago and so far it seems happy.
