Just an update - have chopped off some of the uneccessary bits and wired a little. Planning to feed and water for a while now. The deadwood will be carved down the track.

Update - had wired this at our club workshop meeting at the beginning of this month but the wire had already started to dig in. I like this one the most out of the 3 entries.

Finally got around to doing a bit of work on this one on a showery day. I have turned it around to make the deadwood a feature at the front, rather than hiding it at the back. I have done an initial carve on it playing with my new Dremel. I didn't think it had progressed much until I looked back at the initial photo.

Not much happening - my plan is to grow this on as much as possible and then put into a bonsai pot around August.

Just have been letting this grow on at the moment. Once the weather gets a bit warmer I will pot it into a bonsai pot and get serious with it. I think this has the most potential out of my 3 entries.

Hell no - I would never use DL on a repotted tree. It's Seamungus which is totally safe to use on bare rooted trees. I now use it in the mix in the root zone as well with good results

OK this tree lived - just left it a bit late to put into a bonsai pot and it looked like crap for ages.
Current height 330mm

Out of all the original comp trees this one is my favourite. It has progressed really well but I need to prune it and sort out some branching. I am also very happy with the mudlark pot this is in.

This tree is really growing on me. It's a little two dimensional at the moment - have to get some branching out the back

Still trying to get the branching to the rear to give it some depth. One thing the comp has made me realise is how much growth slows down once a tree goes into a bonsai pot.
