Hey,
i got this cedar the other day and it has some amazing potential but i just wondered if anyone has heard of it. apparently it's called Cedrus Deodera 'Felling Blue'.

No image Mason but the name indicates that it is an Indian Cedar. It should have an extreme drooping habit.

agreed, i had one to it has pendular foliage, a little hard to keep neat foliage but you just have to keep on top of it mate.
google it for bonsai images you should find some

it doesn't really grow like that. it has some nice firm needles. must not be the one that the nursery said

I love all the Cedrus family. There are not many varieties and so an in focus photograph against a plain background will quickly be identified for you Mason.

I have a couple deodora, main thing to note is not to over water (but don't under water either).

Hi Masonc , Here is a couple of pics of some young Deodora/ cedars . Himalayan / Indian are 2 names they go by .Needles are quite long 30- 50mm and they have a drooping / weeping habit unlike the Atlantic/atlas cedars which has an upright growth habit and a shorter stiffer needle . The colour of the needles on ceders can be blue or green depending on the position grown . Full sun the tend to be green and part shade to full shade the tend to change to a blue hue .

These were green when i received them last year and since they were in a shaded position for the last 9 months the have taken on a strong blue hue .Strip all the needles from the under side of the branches to direct the growth up and sideways and to lighten the load on the branches.Cedars mark very easy when wired if not watch very closely and with age the marks are exaggerated not healed , so if possible use the hook and hold method of wiring or for trunk movement use a dowel or bamboo stick .I have have good success using coated electrical wire to position branches .
