I have read on here that a few people are using humic acid to add to their fertilisers.

Can anyone offer any info or experience with this soil conditioner? I have read elsewhere that it allows the roots to absorbe alot more nutrients. ......

It is used a lot in hydroponics. And it can produrpce amazing growth at a very fast pace.

I would be keen to do a few trials with this conditioner.

Bretts uses it and he has many comment on here about it, so do search on his posts

I use uric acid (wee wee ) diluted 10- 1 and thats great for my olive trees.

Maybe that's the reason

I use uric acid (wee wee )

my olive is growing much better these-days since I liquid fertilise it with pee. No more dry brown leaves, just flush with green growth.

Dunno about olives, but it is highly recomended for Lemon trees

Thanks. Did a search and found a s9me posts. Nothing about quantities and frequency of application.

Yeah I've been using it for two seasons now. It made a difference from day one really. This is what I use...

Its in liquid form and I dilute 5ml per litre. I do it year round once per month.
This is an extraction from another forum that explains its main function.

"The application of Humic acid to a watering regimen insures that this CEC union is kept. Humic acid insures that our mix will continue to stay negatively charged and attract and HOLD the fertilizer ions"

Before I using it some trees just didn't grow well, despite using the best fertilisers. When I started using the humates they started taking off. I really have seen a difference in all the trees overall growth and health. Its like they actually are taking up the fertiliser now....

RE: URIC ACID

This reminded me of a comment once made by Gough Whitlam - Prime Minister at that time.

A visiting Prime Minister (country withheld) was once late in addressing the Australian Parliament. Amongst small talk within Parliament Gough orally pondering upon this Prime Ministers late arrival and is documented in saying:

"He is probably on the piss again"

It was well known at that time - this visiting Prime Minister would consume every morning a glass full of his own urine. Undiluted too, i believe.

A bit of history on the subject - probably best not mentioned - but relevant to the benefits of uric acid.

Pebble I know there is a company here in NZ that makes their product from Australian raw materials. I'll see if I can find them again...

Is it expensive? I will try to source some here in sydney and give it a trial.
