Been flat out moving house (including a growing plant collection/nursery) since mid December but managed to do a few short trips collecting suiseki in some larger rivers of the NSW tablelands, namely the Mann and Gwydir Rivers. I'm still cleaning up some specimens to photograph but I thought I'd drop in some pics of Aussie nature taken along the way.

Ken the short answer is mostly the mineral family chalcedony which includes cherts and jaspers which can occur in blue/blueish colours. Black stones can look blueish when photographed as they reflect colour from the sky. Onyx, Spinel and schorl tourmaline may also be in the mix but usually are smaller than stones in shot. Due to the geological history the gravels of the Gwydir River and surrounds occur in a particularly diverse range of colours.
