Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this. The leaves are overall going brown. We did have some heat not long ago in Melbourne and it may be scorched. Just checking if anyone has any tips ? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I think it was the heat we had. I'm in Melbourne too. Lost mine dried out? It got watered with everything else. Not sure why, thought it might come back but no luck that week we had in the high 30s low 40 s did mine. Also had a Wisteria one of three other two ok, loose all its leaves was watered. It survived two weeks later its in full bloom. Shooting out new growth now. Looks fine Hope yours comes good, more green on yours than what was left on mine.

Hi Scooter,
Most of time if you strip (defoliate) all the brown leaves off and cut the twiggery back abit, say1/4. Water it with 1/2 strength Seasol, it a tonic not a fertiliser. You'll find in a week or so that they should start to shoot. Most important put'em in shade to dappled shade and keep an eye on them

Hi everyone, was away in December at the time of that really hot weather in adelaide , my neighbor was watering for me and he missed a day. Lost 2 hawthorns , a berberis , willow , paperbark and a quince . My other hawthorns lost all its leaves and is still skulking but it's green under the bark still so hoping for the best, nearly all my other trees had some browning of leaves

Were all you plant in same or similar areas? Looks very much like the heat of the day, hot winds will help it along a bit. Dries every thing out. All you can do as in early post(as above) and them down low and gently water. Best of luck

I find lack of water on extreme heat days they struggle to recover. I've lost some trees over the years. If it is going to be over 35 deg I always turn my sprinkler system on just to keep them moist as they are programmed to run 4 times during the day when I'm at work and can't get home. I recently lost a little liquid Amber. Doubtful my liquid Amber will recover. Best of luck.

Yep, looks like lack of water and extreme heat on a particular day. I would just remove the leaves, water with sealsol and superthrive and leave it in shaded area for 2 weeks. Should be fine if a scratch test still shows green.

Cheers for the advice. Starting some defoliating, however easier said than done with the size of these leaves, got my tweezers out!!

What I've found with my Hokkaido is that if the smallest branches are extremely brittle, they are dead. So to remove all the dead bit and leave good bits you can just poke the little branches.
