Thought I would post this one as a matter of interest. I have no hope that it will survive however it's been sitting in a pot since December 28, 2015 and it actually has some growth on it (probably latent energy in the trunk)

It was cut off the tree with a saw, sat on the table for half an hour before I saw an empty pot with some soil it and shoved it in.

So it has been a little over two months since I planted this "cutting".

The pot it was planted in had a tray and the tray constantly has water in it. I haven't touched it since I planted so I decided to have a closer look today. To my surprise a root about 15cm long has grown out the bottom of the pot!

These things really must be weeds cos the "cutting" was hacked off with a saw and literally just planted in a pot. No propagating mix, no root hormone.

Be interesting to see where the roots have emerged from when I have a look next spring.

And this is the parent tree it came off. Has put on a bit of growth as well. It has had about three haircuts since the initial styling. I'd hate to have a heap of these as they are very high maintenance.
