Just wondering if anyone who has imported akadama/kanuma into Aus could explain what hurdles are involved with import tax, shipping costs, quarantine/import permits, etc.
(Also, please don't turn this into a diatomite vs akadama thread, I think we all know where those lead to. And if anyone has the small grade stuff for sale, send a pm my way.)

I do not knwo who imports on the east coast, but it doen so into perth and they will ship to here.
Scott Roxburgh brings Kanuma over periodically but do not knwo if he has akadama as well
Pup or Steven will have contact details i am sure
Kingston Wang at Bonsai environment used to have it for sale in smaller amounts so assume he knows how and where to get it here.

Scott does use akadama for his growing medium and has occasionally posted that he has it for sale. Try PM to Scott and ask whatever you need to know.

Aus customs are very helpful in providing info on how and or if you can import it. My guess is you would need a critical mass volume which might be $5-10k +permits, taxes, custom agent fees etc in value but I'm only guessing.

I've only ever brought it over from the West. 3 wise monkeys bonsai.
You'd need to import a container to make it worthwhile with customs etc. I have a small amount for sale so let me know if you want a couple of bags.
