A warning/reminder...It's mid October.

I'm assuming that those that have English Elms are taking precautions against that nasty little beast known collectively as Elm Leaf Beetle..Pyrrhalta luteola
Here in Boronia Victoria these pests have already snuck in literally overnight.
Watered yesterday and this morning 'scatter gun holes everywhere.
On my large stump that has been growing like a banshee with it's natural tiny leaves has suffered with the beetles chewing tiny holes right at the leaf base.
The other three got the 'trade mark peppering of holes.
This is all overnight with no sign of larva. Plenty of beetles though.
Concentrated Pyrethrum did the initial barrier that has stayed the return although I'm sure they are rampant in the canopy of my neighbors Mature English elm next door.
I have CONFIDOR arriving soon so that will stitch them up as this is the recommended treatment for this murderous little bug.
So in writing I'm just reminding again 'mid October is upon us and this is the trigger for Pyrrhalta luteola to attack.
Regards Steve.
