Blackwoods a Diatomite source

I found some Diatomite at Blackwoods in Coffs Harbour the other day. It is hard and clean so I think it good. The shop assistant automatically recommended the sand saying it was much better to which I replied 'it depends what you need it for'. $9 each. If anyone is chasing remember to differentiate between the two as some sales people don't understand the range of uses it has and the different grades. It must be one of the most useful natural products ever!

Sweet!
All new batches I soak in a jar of water for at least a week, then try na dcrush between fingers. If still hard then good to use

According to their website, it's limestone chips not DE.

Careful with that stuff.
The MSDS says it is highly soluble.
Don't use it on your good trees until you test run it for a few months

Thanks for the warning everybody. I just got a ph test kit and the supasorb showed up as bright purple 9+. I was going to use small amounts on all my tubestock as well so it could have ended in tears all round. The lady that sold me the kit has used DE for over 20 years and said it has changed colour over the years as the South Australian source is scraping the barrel. I think it stinks that the label mentions for plant use without a warning about the extremely high ph.
