Please Help!!!!
Hi there. I have 2 x Liquid ambers. Just not sure on the defoliation process. With my maples I cut the centre out of my tips to shorten the nodes and let them grow longer if I wish to lengthen the branch. As liquid amber's tend to grow larger leaf. I am not sure how to trim like a maple or just cut off the large leaves. As the whole purpose is to reduce leaf size. What is the best procedure on doing this please? Thanks in Advace.

Have a search through the forum.
Ken has (KCPOOLE) has posted numerous times regarding his defoliation regime for LA.

This is probably the best one with lots of info.

I Tip prune the new growth, but also remove the leaves whenever they get too large.
Hard to balance the 2 methods but you will get the hang of what your tree needs.

I did a total defoliation 2 weeks ago ( 1st time this summer) hoping that I might get lots of new small leaves so i can display it this weekend at our show, bu I think I was about 2 weeks too late :palm:
Oh well, Always next year

G'day mate,

Ken's advice is the one to follow however if you do a search for 'liquid ambar tips' there's a topic that a few people have contributed to that might be of help.

good luck with it.
