How much trouble can perlite really give you?

Great little video, personally I'm changing from perlite to vermiculite as I like the look of it better.

I really don't see what the problem is. All top surface material will move when watered to differing extents. Its what happens under the first centimeter or two that matters.

Vermiculite turns to moosh/gets boggy. I don't see a problem about looks with respect to perlite.
People use quartz with no drama :lost:
Also, if you are showing your tree, would you not top dress or use moss anyway? ;)
