Have found curl grubs in my pots and was wondering how to get rid of them and stop them coming back yr after year. Have no problems with bonsais on high racks above ground but the others that are in traning pots seem to have them...I don't have any more space to put up more racks..I usually find them when re-opting before spring.

Any suggestions ... If I notice yellowing leaves or others dying back could I use a diluted mix of grub destroyer or would that be harmful to my plants.

Have been doing a little reading and the cause may be from me using store bought pre-mix from flower power. Supposed to have too much organic matter and attracts those pesky curl grubs.

If there's a simple mix that I can make up from garden supply shops in Sydney then I'd like to know what to mix and ratios of products used. As well as the best places to purchase from.

I used to find these buggers in my pots too and since changing my potting mix to diatomite and zeolite I have not seen any. And the trees thrive well in this mix.

I had some as well. I totally submerged my pots in seasol and it seems to have drowned them all.

Forgot to mention diatomite can be purchase from Pet and Garden (check out their website) and zeolite from Ray Nesci.

Tried that before with little sucess. also hard to do monthly with 100 trees!

Use more than 30% diatomite in any mix and you will never see another grub!

Had some first hand experience with this today! It was with a callistemon I bought at the last market day.
Something kept on telling me I needed to repot it... so today I did. When I lifted it out I could see some curl grubs...crap. Took a bit more soil off .... and more grubs...double crap.
In the end I got rid of about 30 or so. Crap x 30.
The tree had been put into diatomite - diatomite was at the base, some at the sides and the top. Interesting thing was the grubs were not in these areas. They were all found in the old earthy soil towards the middle of the tree.
Thankfully because of this there were healthy roots in the diatomite zones.... Not many roots in the other areas!
Anyhow I thought this might be useful information.
Hopefully the tree pulls through.
