These are all over the nurseries here, and I've been keeping my eyes out for a good one for a while now as I think they have great characteristics for bonsai. The best info I can find about them is from San Marcos Growers. It seems they are also known as E. latens or sometimes E. foecunda or even Eucalyptus sp. Sullivan Soak. If anybody can give me some insight into the naming and such, I would appreciate it. And if you have any experience actually working with these, even better!

At any rate, here is my tree. Better pictures to follow this weekend when I get a chance to uncover the base and choose a trunkline. It's growing strongly but apparently nobody wanted it as it had been marked down from $50 to $12. Fine with me.

I haven't been on here much in the past few months. Had a long distance house move, new job starting and all that, but I thought I would put up a new pic of my continuing Aussie-bonsai-in-the-USA adventure. Not much to see at the moment as they're all resting for the winter (and forgive the dodgy angle). I moved from a semi-tropical area where frost was rare to the American Midwest where winters are nasty, but couldn't get rid of all the Aus natives. There's a callistemon "Little John" in there that's starting to fill in pretty nicely, and the Euc "Moon Lagoon" that started this page, as well as a Euc victrix, and I suppose you might count the Ficus benjamina too.

Currently they're hanging out in the basement window well, covered in plastic. They get decent light and the temps don't drop too low, but they will be much happier once it heats up again and they can go outside to play.

Since the move, I'm sure missing all the eucalyptus that were all over in Arizona. On the upside, I can grow Japanese maples now that I live somewhere it's not so hot and dry.

Nice to see you are still here and enjoying the Aussie Natives.

There is always a good and bad to everything and being able to have Deciduous is always a bonus .
Just hope it did not snow there as well

ps, the Euc looks to have nice small foliage, so that is a bonus
