Birch nob, cut and planted.

It wasn't a beech, it was a silver European birch. The nob was a cut off branch a couple of years ago and sprouted some shoots. So we cut it off a week ago, already in after bud break. There was no way I could remove any bark from it, so I put root growth hormone around the cut, and wrapped in sphagmun moss. There was a large part that must have been where it's nourishment was coming from. Not sure what that is called, heart wood? And it hasn't wilted, yet keeping it well watered though, and it is growing new leaves.

The soil mix is the same as the Quince cutting, that has flowered and opening new leaves.
However, it could just be getting nutrients from what is already feeding it in the nob. We'll see, eh? I suspect you could call it a raft cutting, no sure.
Any advice? Encouragement?
