Juniper and deadwood..jpg
I lost my first post! Anyway, I thought this was interesting. I got it from Peter Chan's book,
Bonsai Masterclass, p.75. He seems very expert at uprooting large trees, and creating them into bonsai. I can't do this, but could do this interesting meld. One strips the bark off the juniper on one side and tie it to the deadwood. Seems in a few years, you can't tell which is deadwood and which is a live tree. Interesting concept. Problem is I have got a suitable sapling to do this. But I suspect any conifer would suffice. So long as it hasn't any side branches as such. Any advice.
Oh and then plant them in a pot of course.

Hi BB,
This sounds like a Tanuki (spelling?!?)...
Some look very good, others try, haha... Of corse, I may be wrong.

Nothing unusual at all with Tanuki. ( Phoenix graft)
Reusing a piece of deadwood as a structure for a live tree.
Search the site and you will find many described and docoed here and the wiki
