Hoop pine?

So council has just planted these as street trees along my new block. They look like hoop pine but that seems ridiculous?

Bit of a bummer as I bought a larger block to build a sizable organic garden and to have well cared for native gardens everywhere else. In the winter these things may shade out a fair bit of the fence line (bit over half acre corner block).

Are they hoop pine?

Hi Klaery, Yep, sure looks like hoop pine to me or should I say "Araucaria cunninghamia? Whatever, still hard to make it a good looking bonsai! Cheers, Michael.

Thank you guys for the quick replies/confirmation! I like the trees and that they are native but not sure they fit in here. Looks like the north side side may get removed for the driveway and the others I am more OK with. Thanks again :)
