Today was a nice sunny day so after the Seasol, I did some weeding this one had a lot of fine star weed, so it came up to the bench, while there a picture looked in order so here you are.
It is a Melaleuca linarifolia, 46cm high collected from a garden makeover 6years ago.

This pot is one of the last produced in China from the Coal fired Kilns. I found this out when Lindsay Farr, who we know is an avid pot collector, visited my collection a few years ago. He came to visit his son who was staying in Subiaco, so while he was there went to the football.

coal fired? nice! Must be that nice dirty smog colour that you can only get from china's air polluted fields ... hahaha Sseriously though, it matches the tree beautifully imho. The tree itself seems to be arching its back saying 'look at me! look at me!' Nice one pup.

I didn't realize Melaleuca linarifolia gets such a dark trunk. Is that natural or due to something you have done?

I am at work, so I can't see the image you have posted. But I have seen plenty of old Linarifolias without dark trunks, thus I was just curious whether its a trait they get in certain conditions or are there sub species etc etc.

No I have done nothing to it this sometimes happens, when they get really wet then dry out rapidly, I usually wash it off with a strong jet of water. It is nothing to worry about. I noticed this first on a bottle brush and thought it was sooty mould but it was not.

Wow, that is really interesting, I had thought you'd given it the blowtorch treatment Pup (that was the picture bonsaibuddyman). I don't mind the colour at all
