Nights are getting cooler and each day there is more hints of autumn color on my bonsai benches.
Today I noticed these and thought I should take a pic before the birds get them

I looked and looked but could not find another suitable background in the time I had Bodhi, except for the seat of this chair

and that was not suitable for a front shot.

Its a damned good thing our Bonsai skills are better than our photographing. My wife saved me by buying a pulldown picture screen at a garage sale (brand new ) for ten bucks. Oh, nice berry's by the way.
And here is a little oneupmanship, berry's AND a screen

Very nice Shibui! Hope to one day get a couple of fruiting varieties myself, they look great
(Nice tip too bodhi, will have to keep an eye out for a cheap screen myself!)

I do have a roll down backdrop but it needs to be rolled down then rolled back up by hand and because it is light it flaps around in the slightest breeze so only use it for really serious photos. I'm on the lookout for a large rollerblind in dark color that will be easier to roll up and down. One day.... Until then you'll all have to put up with whatever background I can find.
Just so you know it is getting cool at Shibui Bonsai here are a couple of shots of actual autumn leaf color.

It is always interesting that some individuals in what appear to be identical circumstances color up early while others nearby are still full green and growing strongly.
Maybe I'm imagining the color in this one???

and, finally for now - a little native autumn color.

I'd love to share some photo's myself but alas shock horror it's been too wet!
Batten down the hatches as well peeps as from what I can see on the charts and reports the last couple of days have only been the entrée.
It would appear that the main course arrives tomorrow with some heavier stuff for us in Vic and SA too.
Daresay this should be pretty welcome rain around Victoria though with it being incredibly dry since November!
I've little doubt there are some parched grounds and tree's that have been hanging out for months for this!
I'll grab a couple of pics to add to the thread when weather permits.

93mm over the last 2 days and its been the best autumn start here for 30 years the farmers say. Nights haven't been cold yet but a couple of bonsai starting to show a little colour. 6-8 expected at night after next Wednesday so that will speed things up. im hoping to spend 2 days in the area on the weekend and garden.

That's a great drop off rain Matthew!
Lovely trees pics and garden.
I see a familiar face or two! Big EE!
Is that a Zelkova in pic #1?
No sign of color on mine yet.
I'll try and grab a couple of pics tonight.

Nice pics all, hitting spring over here, cherry blossoms of Vancouver are out in force, much further along than DC!
Bodhi, Ilex Serrata? I hope you're going to plant all those berries!

Just had a quick look before the next bit of rain came through..
Afraid to say I do not have much in the way of Autumnal photo's!
Considering the Cotoneasters are in show this is about the best I can do - shame the rain has ruined a few beautiful Azalea flowers I had going..
Give it a few more weeks I'm sure we will have some nice colours to share!
