Where to purchase Berberis?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase Berberis from? I've tried a few bonsai nurseries, and places like Bunnings/ Mitre 10 etc. They don't seem to stock it at all. I'm after the purple leaf variety but will take green if I can't get a hold of the purple leaf variety...

Thanks!

Hi lelen , mate both stores you have mentioned have them up this way from time to time if not regularly , so i would be inclined to ask the staff if they will get a couple in for you . While Bunnings do carry different stock at different stores they are more than happy to check other shops in their chain to try to locate one .

Cheers Alpineart.

Berberis "Little Favourite" is short, thickens well, and robust - I've got three, on from the green shed, one from a standard suburban nursery, one from a cool-climate nursery. Some forms are tall, straight, very vertical, and not as much bonsai-fun. Best of luck.

I have seen Berberis in Bunnings. However, you will probably have to wait for Spring because as they are deciduous, growers generally provide them when the growth is fresh.

Thanks alpineart, GavinG & wimmy. I spoke to someone at Bunnings and they are getting a small one in for me hopefully by this weekend... Fingers crossed it's healthy! Not sure which variety they're getting though...

Okay so here is the berberis I ended up getting…

Branches everywhere, crossing over and quite long (with those spikes haha), so I decided to give it a trim… and went slightly overboard I think...

Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated, still very new to bonsai and although I have read a lot online, many websites say opposing things and contradict each other...
