Repotting/Root Prune: SE QLD & NE NSW Climate Index

I've been wanting to make a root pruning schedule for all my trees. I thought it would be good to make one centralised index for our climate. I'll keep the OP updated with your experience if you live in this area.

If you can provide information by quoting below and filling in the info for any of the trees you have experience with we can consolidate all the information and hopefully come up with a definite list for our climate. Feel free to include any species not on the list :

Species:
Month(s):
% of rootball removed:
Approx percentage of leaf drop if any:
Any specific after care:

Chinese Elm
Japanese Elm
Corky Bark Elm
Clerodendrum
Japanese Box
Japanese Maple
English Box
Trident Maple
Ficus
Willow Leaf Fig
Swamp Cypress
Cypress
Chinese Juniper
Privet
White Pine
Black Pine
English Oak

If the thread goes well, i'll put more effort in and put images, scientific names, alphabetical etc.

Hey. Nice idea however you will not be able to edit the OP forever. This function times out. Might I suggest you sign up to the AB wiki and add all the information there. I think this will be a superior solution with much more if a chance of being used and useful in the future.

Oh, I didn't know that about editing OP's. Thats strange.
Well you're the only reply so far! I will sign up to the AB Wiki if there is information provided from other members. No use me uploading just my own experience. Some of it could be wrong. I was hoping to come up with the oppurtune time for repotting using an average from a few peoples input. :x

I vote for the Wiki, Some time related pages are here.
https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... hould_I%3F
https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... h_month%3F

Or preferrably, each tree species in the https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... cies_guide needs to be documented with relevant info and that can easily have care guides on different climates for each of them

I have a new Template ( https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... estemplate )that i have a little ( large ) project to update every tree species on this list in the species guide
I am slowly working thru the list applying the new template to each tree starting with a's, and are happy for anyone else to jump in update the existing entries. Start with your own trees and then work out:-)

Acacia has the new style already https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index.php?title=Acacia

Good stuff Ken.

Eusto you can always add the details yourself and put a disclaimer next to the entries.
The Wiki just serves as a more reliable location for this type of information.

There is no reason why others can't put their experiences within this thread though and have it all documented neatly into the Wiki.

Cheers,
