easy watering

not sure if this is going to make any sense with regard to best practice-----had a couple of ports
which tend to start me musing------I use a different soil mix according to the needs of each species that allows for watering everything at one time-If I water ,everything gets watered-with a maximum of one watering per day--plants that need more water I use a less free draining mix(flowering Quince)and for others I change the mix according to how much water they need--this way I can water everything once a day max in summer and reduce to once every 4 or 5 days or so in winter--I also position the plants with regard to sun and wind exposure to help this system --this is purely a practical lifestyle choice because other things need doing-not sure if each individual species is best served by this method but at the moment there is much else to do
