Hi I'm new to Azaleas and I wanted to make up my own potting mix and was wondering if any body had any suggestions?
Cheers Alan

I use Kanuma/Pumice 1:1, it spreads the cost out and the azaleas love it.
If you are interested, let me know. I can give you a source for where you can get some in Victoria.

I use Kanuma 100% on most of my Azaleas, but also have some in my Diatomite / Zelolite mix ( when i ran out of Kanuma

).

Alan my friend, why don't you talk to me

or read your newsletter
In the last issue I did write an article on Satsuki

which also touches the mix, but not in too much detail! There's NO set in concrete rule what to use

, it very much depends also on your watering abilities/habits. One thing however is important - your mix needs to be "free draining", also the pot size/depth is important and not to forget - where you place your tree. I hope I didn't confuse you too much
I guess the best thing is

you either come to our place or we check out yours and take it from there? The other option is, you come to the next Satsuki Interest Group meeting at Trevor's Nursery on Saturday 7th December and check out what everyone else is using in and around the area we're living in.
Talk soon - I guess?!
Cheers, Rudi
