This is a tree my wife styled and potted at one of Peter Odin"s courses. It just seems to be dying off and all the branches from the underside have dropped off. Can anyone explain why? I water all of my trees daily, most days it is twice.

I have seen snails do this, buts rather severe.

Mine do this sometimes, then grow back again, don't give up on it, even if it looks dead.

Definitely not giving up. More sun? Less sun? It is fairly well protected where I keep it...

Morning sun min 6 hours, afternoon shade keep moist cut off the dead bits and give it some seasol/uplift. We have had a lot of hot strong wind here in Perth, how about down there?.

Are you close to the water? could be salt air. Just some thoughts.

Hey Pup, not living near water. Might have to move to position of morning sun, currently gets arvo sun, but not directly.

Raymond, Definitly keep it in the sun. Junipers hate shade and become weak in it. However I realize it can cet very hot and dry over there so maybe some semi shade in summer? They also love being sprayed with water if the air is dry. I would let it dry a little between waterings. If this doesn't happen in 2 days, your mix is at fault. I've had trouble with a few junipers this year which were attactd by mites (they can cause this sort of problem and they love dry air!) so you might want to check that out as wel.
Your plant is cerainly not dying, In fact it still looks quite strong. It just needs some TLC.

I have found that Junipers do not particularly like to have wet feet. I see you say you are watering sometimes twice a day. You should ensure that the soil drys a little between watering. Personally I would slip pot this into a larger container with well draining soil mix, move it to a spot where it gets morning sun and give it a chance to recover.

Are there any signs of ants up and the trunk and branches? if so look for signs of scale.

If roots were broken when the tree was styled (or since) corresponding branches may die.
Have you checked for mites?

I have moved this Sargenti several times. Lots of seasol and trying not to get its feet too wet. Yet she still seems to be sick, Help Please..

Too much foliage, not enough roots?,if its lasted this long it should come back, might take a season though, try reducing some foliage.

Over the past year I had a similar problem with most of my junipers. Found it to be blight fungus. I treated it with a copper based fungicide which worked. Before spraying all my junipers a pines I cover the soil first. Also something I would not do would be to fertilize it until it shows sings of recovery.

The fungicide may not be the answer but it may be worth a go.

Agree with this. Could also be Cypress Canker. (also a fungus--look for any areas weeping sap) very hard to control. You can try copper oxychloride.

After a hard styling, like we do at a beginners course, I've noticed that you can have a portion just die off (as Gerard said, due to the root work), and sometimes they just don't make it through at all... which hopefully isn't the case

I had the main branch on my tree die from my last beginners course, so it definately happens. Luckily I didn't really like its placement anyway haha

Mine only get watered once a day in the arvo (I water foliage as well as soil on my juni's), and sit in full sun for the entire day. They don't really get any special treatment unless the temp goes above 40, at which point I move them into the shade. I seasol when I can, which is usually every month, and use a slow release fertiliser (as I'm still getting my fert. regime down).

Try to forget about the tree. Put in a place where it gets ample sunlight and do not water until the soil is DRY. Sometimes the Junipers like to be left alone and un attended. Neglect with care.
