I finally got some chook poo. I ended up buying dynamic lifter "organic plant food" which seems to smell just like regular DL. I got it as the DL they were selling was all 25kg sacks, too massive for me to store in my little place.

So swampies and bougies can have DL, but what other trees can you put it on without killing them?

If you use with care and start with very small amounts all plants can have it even natives. The P is only about 2 so it is actually safe for natives, just be careful with the Proteaceae family which includes banksias. I have used it on silky oak and calli's as I find it safer than some stronger chemical fertilisers.

P.S. I suspect that the different kinds of Dynamic Lifter may be similar to the different kinds of Neurofen available for different kinds of pain

Lol! Yes bougy, I checked the percentages of the things and they were really pretty much the same, lol! I was mainly shopping for the smallest sack of the stuff I could get. I just went out to buy a storage tub to keep it in, as I have 17.5kg... *Blocks nose*

Pelletised chook poo is safe for most plants, it's more of a question of how much you use. Gross feeders like figs will chow down on almost any amount you can throw at them in the growing season while others need some caution.

Note that the NPK levels are not going to really lead to over-fertilising your plants and you will probably want to add something else to lift nitrogen & potassium levels. I use Powerfeed from Seasol for this. The big advantage both these is that they add great organic material to the soil, promoting the over-all health of the soil & the plant.

BTW, Neutrog has it's own range of chook poo that is supplied to various retailers under different names. Exclusive to the green shed is 'Rooster Booster' which is an identical product to 'Cock-A-Doodle DOO' being sold by Home Hardware. Both of these are the same as DL but much cheaper, a 20kg bag goes for only $15.

Well I never, the things one can learn from an Internet Forum hey. Have used the stuff for years and years and here I was thinking they had simply somehow removed the smell.

Oh gawd, the smell, when will it go? The plus side is it will make the neighbours I don't like unhappy, but at the same time I'm probably upsetting the good neighbours.

I've put 2 more layers of dirt over the top of the SMALL sprinkle but the smell just keeps coming back.

Just keep watering it and the smell will go away. Or expose yourself to it more and you and your neighbours will get used it
