Midnight last night all hell broke loose, flying roof tiles smashed pots and uprooted trees.

Yep.

Was incredible.

Interesting fact that we experienced category 1 cyclone wind gusts last night.
Possible that some experienced category 2 (gusts in excess of 125kph).
Fawkner Beacon recorded 126kph early this morning.

Mother nature surely unleashed some fury last night.
More likely tomorrow as well with yet another round of windy weather due.

Quick scout of my tree's this morning and It would appear that I have escaped but i won't call this safe until closer inspection tonight.
Thankfully I tied to the bench a number of tree's and other than a few wiggling free with likely a bit of root damage most look ok...

You guys coped it alot worse than me. If the wind was mainly westerly it dosent get in my narrow valley but if it swings around to a direct northerly or southerly i get pounded. I could hear it though up in the hills ripping things apart. WATCH out for tomorrow morning as well as another strong front will reach VIC.

Is that your beautiful quince blown out of its pot Gerard ? Rule number one is alway tie your trees into the pot.

"Fawkner Beacon, on Port Philip Bay, recorded the highest gust last night of 142 kph" – ABC News

and like yourself, a peek out the window didn't reveal any damage (or unwanted roof tiles), but we'll inspect more closely tonight.

Yes Craig, I was surprised to see that I had neglected to tie this one in because recently I have tied almost everything.
But perhaps it was a blessing, the tree blew out and fell one metre but no noticeable damage. The weight of the pot and soil might have made this worse, and the extra bonus I did not lose one of my favourite pots.

Not a good sight, hope everything survives. Pity the pots went down too.

We were lucky here. Lots of trees over but no damage. I think (besides the roof damage) you were fairly blessed Gerard. you would have been fairly protected as your quite enclosed, and that probably helped.

You'd want to be careful with all those tiles blowing around, thats a bit scary! Glad to see you didn't suffer too badly though :tu2:

Did you end up with a few more Windswept tree's then you began with? :P

Hi Gerald,
That looks like it was fairly serious wind mate. Hope you are able to recover everything. :fc: It has been fairly wild winds at my place today. :x I have checked around a couple of times and there doesn't seem to be any damage. :fc:
