Acer leaves spotting and discolouring

Hi everyone,

I've got this maple (not sure what sort exactly) stock in the ground at the moment and over the past couple of weeks I've noticed some spotting and yellowing of the leaves. Is this something I need to worry about or is it just a byproduct of hot, windy days around here? None of my other maples are affected.

Sorry about the mesh, I find that if I plant things in the ground someone/thing comes along and rips them out before they've had time to establish, so I cover them with mesh until they've established and are outgrowing it.

Here are some of the leaves. They fell off the tree pretty easily when I gave them a pull. If this is some sort of fungal infection, should I just pull it out now? It's still pretty small.

Thanks!

I had a similar issue with a few of my tridents. Suspecting something is wrong down below, a quick dig confirmed the roots were rotting from all the rain during the last few weeks.
I have since raised a few into some free draining mix and they appear to be settling. My mistake was I planted my tridents into a vegie patch that has had a lot of mulch and compost added over winter and they really held the water. Hope this helps.

That sounds promising! The soil they're in is very rich/clay-y and mulched, so it might be a bit damp for them. Thanks!
