Check out this awesome crepe myrtle I got today. You all probably think I'm crazy but finally I found a crepe of decent structure and branching and trunk girth (even though the one with my thumb in it makes it look tiny.)

I'm really pleased with it, should make a nice little shohin.

Lots to choose from in that lot :-)

I would be removing the Moss up the trunk tho. I use Vinegar and water to keep it off.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm not home yet, I got it on the coast, got to get it home then work on it and clean it up.

I wonder how much of the trunk is below dirt? I just repotted two nursery crepes on Wednesday and about 6cm of trunk was underground! These were sticks in pots... One looked like it had been slip potted deeper, resulting in the top roots growing out then taking a right angle turn upwards! Very annoying!

I agree with ken beano. I also find this in way disturbing 3 days ago I bought an reasonably expensive sango kaku, beautiful tree this was also potted very deep pretty much on the base of the pot. Long story short pulled it out of the car tips if the branches caught on the roof lining snap :o collar rot three inches below the top of the pot. So o put it back in the pot really firmed it in went and got my money back. I told them I didn't require it after all

Tidied up a bit and repotted. It was 99% roots and 1% soil in that pot. Not sure where its going yet, so I haven't removed the eye poker branch but I'm pretty sure the top photo will be the front. Any other ideas?

Here is my 6 point 3 year plan:
1/ cut back to one trunk line
...

Ok its more of a one point plan. I wouldn't do anything until you can get a good amount of back budding so you can see if you can head a one trunk direction. Its got an awkward shape to it and would solely depend on back budding to get it to go in that direction. It would also be potted at a straightened angle.

I will now think of it as the E952 Aspartame Crepe. Aspartame non-saccharide sweetener used as a sugar substitute in some foods and beverages.

I'm going in this direction with it. It has a million roots, all tied in knots and I am letting the top nest of roots be above soil and dry out, so hopefully i can get rid of them. Otherwise I sense a ground layer coming along.
