Leptospermum "outrageous" new project

A local Nursery is closing down and I managed to pick up some advanced Leptospermums for $10.
The one I have started working on is L. outrageous which has large magenta to hot pink lowers http://asgap.org.au/l-out.html
This plant has a few problems such as a straight main trunk that is hard to bend, too many long branches and it is slightly root bound. Today I pruned the branches and roots placed it in a pot I had lying around, then wired the branches including some cascade style branches. I think I will let it grow for a while and flower this spring then I will probably remove the large straight main trunk and turn it into a Jin, making the next lowest branch into the new apex.
Any advice would be appreciated.
