Here are a few trees which I am hoping to get some results with in the future. I have put them all together in this tread at this stage but maybe in the future they will have merit enough to stand on there own.

So some of this starter stock has been left unattended and probably needs more care than I give it.( Like a lot of my stock). I found this diamond in the rough the other day though. Its the tree from the 3rd picture above. I have just potted it and given it a bit of direction. I plan to keep the growth more upright with this one than some of my other banksia. Looking for a more natural shape. At the moment it will just recover from the repot.

I have planted it in this pot purely to get vigor and growth back on the plant. I am sure many options for planting angle will show in the future. I don't imagine they would be any more than 20 or 30 degrees off what I have now so I don't see that as important yet but maybe im wrong. What are your thoughts?

PS think I might start School of bonsai this year. Had a chat with Ray and said I might head to the Thursday night beginners class?

was hunting around at a nursery today and couldnt walk past a few more crackers.

I have seriously got to stop buying trees. its just getting out of control but how could I walk past these????

Wow I can see why! Ive never been able to find chunky banksia stock like that around.

Yeah. I am pretty happy with the score. I know it's a bit late to pot but thought I would risk it. They had certainly out grin the soil they where in. Got them into some squat pots this morning with some help from my daughter. She wS interested in that for at least 37 seconds. Will put a few photos up

Has the plant been wired/bending which caused the scaring on the trunk or natural from the plant specie?

No these are all natural. Banksia serrata get quite a thickened trunk pretty quickly. I chose these as the had naturally fallen over aswell. Great species for bonsai but not my fav. If you notice oneof the latest photos is slightly different. That's a banksia integrifolia which I prefer as I have found it more vigorous. It doesn't thicken as easily though.
