Just thought id add a couple of pics of some of my pines. I will get around to indivual photos in spring after i have down some more work to them and have invested in a DSLR. They are a pushing new growth again, winter in central queensland dosent mean "hey how about a rest for a few months". Im growing japanese black and red pines with nishiki, black-red hybried, yatsubusha (dwarf). They do pretty well up here once they have spent a year acclimatising to the heat and humidity.repotting is around the end of the month up here.My mate has the varigated red and i have the weeping red pine (Pinus densiflora 'Pendula') out back.

more pics, Hopefully this may help people hesitant of trying pines to give them a try. Im still learning and have along way to go to understand there development properly but have found looking after them no harder than my figs or privetts.

On the first picture "large black pine 4 inch trunk 6inch nebari" -- in the background,
there is a pine that looks like a semi-cascade, and still is in a plastic training pot.
It looks interesting -- would you be able to give a closer picture of this pine?

That is a japanese black pine yatsabusa cork bark. The bark around the lower trunk is pretty special. Its going into a bonsai pot in 3 weeks or so. needs a thinning. They produce so many buds the dwarf variety. My plan is it style it simular to what Kimura did to a white pine in the book masters series of pines. the main branch supporting the cascade will need lowering a bit and that will require some effort. Keep an eye open for updates.
The small black pine cost me $10 as it was pretty neglected. Ive spent 18months to get it to where it is now another 3 seasons working on the top i may have a nice tree....hopefully

3 years into Bonsai and you like Figs too??????. Same as me ................. but why I am so poor......................

mate i have to either reach over to get them or move some of my larger ones at the front first keeps me fit anyway. You cant see but there is a fish pond between the monkey poles and back fence. A note on the sprinkler system , i only use when i have to go away for work which can be up to 10 days so my partner dosent kill them otherwise i always hand water every tree.

Thankyou for the nice reply. Since i have moved to NE vic lately everything is reacclimatising to cold temps and dry summers. I think i may have sold one or 2 off but i still have most of them doing fine. I also have alot more room now which is great

Hi Noah, you have certainly amassed a great collection of pines. seems like you have a few pretty interesting hybrids to. Now you need to put in the hard yards wiring them. I love wiring pines as its instant gratification work, although threading the wire amongst needles can be a bit of a pain.
