Quercus sp. -any good for bonsai?

Hi all, I have been offered a pair of Quercus oaks called "flame" oak (??? never heard of it before). I have never seen a bonsai quercus before so I though I would ask folks here before possibly wasting my time with these trees.
In other news has anyone used a cassia fistula for bonsai before? Any tips? I picked up a Cassia Paluma (apparently closely related to fistula) yesterday although it has a few years growing to go before any work can begin.

I've seen some pretty nice quercus bonsai, though I'm not familiar with flame oak. With two you could let one grow and experiment on the other and see what you can figure out. Do some google searching and reading too, I seem to remember reading that they can be a bit testy with repotting. I've always liked oaks, so I would give it a go.

Can't tell you anything about the cassia though.

I love Oaks, and as Bonsai they can be spectacular :)
Have a look thru, or search the Deciduaous forum here and you will find lots of threads on oak, this one has quite a few examples, and a good discussion of them.

I have not heard of flame oak either, but maybe Pin Oak ( because of its colour) may be it.
