Acacia Howittii

I recently purchased a Howittii which cascades (weeps) nicely to just below the rim of the pot. I assume that you prune in Spring but do you just trim back to the pot or do you prune back branches that are already weeping down. Is spring (after flowering) the best time to prune.
Cheers

Best not to prune back past the leaves onto bare wood. If it's just developing, cut back to the last couple of leaves after flowering and then let it grow strongly through the year to develop the trunk. It will grow fresh weeping branches each year, hopefully full of blossom. A nice variation can be to stand/wire/prop the trunk upwards, then let the branches fall from there. There was a beaut one on the site not long ago.

I've seen a few really nice ones floating around the forums. The fourth or fifth entry in
this thread has an inspiring one.
