Vermiculite ?

Hi guys

I found a hydroponics store on e bay selling
50 l bags of expanded clay large particle size 35 bucks
100 l bags of Vermiculite 35 bucks

Delivered anywhere in oz
Not sure of the Vermiculite size .
Has anyone used Vermiculite and is it worth a shot ?

Have not tried it myself, only just starting to experiment with 100% perlite for cuttings.

Perlite is great for cuttings, vermiculite too.
I have healthy callus forming on some weeping Cherry after just 2 weeks :fc: they will sprout some healthy roots.
Vermiculite is ok but it can break down over time and make your soil a bit claggy.

I think vermiculite is a form of mica. Very light weight and composed of really thin sheets but, as Damian says, it breaks down quickly. Good to cover seed trays but probably not much good in a potting mix.
