G'day,

Arrived at work this morning to find my neighbors tree has come down in my yard. RIGHT ON TOP OF MY BENCH! Thankfully the damage is only limited to 6 or 8 bonsai and a landscape Black Pine.

I did mention in an earlier post that I hated F. benjamina. Maybe this is karma?

On my way home now to get my chainsaw and some potting supplies.

How everyone else has fared okay from the storm

Oh shari, i know EXACTLY how you feel Steven. I have suffered the same fate. On a bright note It could make some natural changes to the Bonsai trees.

That's the benji pointing the bone at you Steven Wow hope the damage isn't too bad We are only getting lots of rain I hope

Not a good thing to see when you arrive home. I had a large gum branch fall onto my benches a couple of months ago aswell. Luckily my overhead watering cable held most of it off the bonsai and i only lost a couple of branches on some project trees.

I hope yours are not too damaged.

Hope your salvage job goes well Steven. About 16 years ago my Daughter came home from Uni and dropped
her bike on a tree and I told her she could have that Bonsai. The incident knocked off a few branches. She has
had the tree ever since and has developed into my favourite fig. I gave it a repot and defoliation at Xmas and it
is looking really good. It now lives in Melbourne with twin one year old boys so it may get some more spontaneous pruning.

Hi Steven , mother nature sure is dealing it out to the East Coast , still no rain here although the forecast is for storms for this week , now where have i heard that before . I hope these storms calm down a bit and give the people a chance to clean up at least , if only they could turn this rain to inland Australia and cool off the Red Center .

Heart breaking. And yet at the same time...free tree branches for making new benches or stands! Have fun playing with your chainsaw, Steven. Hopefully there's no damage to any beautiful pots. Shane

Well, my neighbour who's tree it was stood there and watched... does that qualify as help?

Fortunately the damage was mostly stock trees in plastic pots. My Melaleuca that I recently overhauled was knocked out of it's pot and damaged. Hopefully it will be okay.

You know you are a bonsai tragic when you take progression shots of everything you do

this band of troughs is the best chance we have had since september. My model i use to forecast is saying 1-3 inches depending on where u are. We NEED it . i have had 2.6 mm since dec 17 and its the driest in my part since 1917. Steven i had a huge gum fall 2 weeks ago on a nature strip on the side of the road that took out 2 fences and missed my bonsai area by inches. im now fighting with the council to have another 2 removed . ive given them 3 weeks to do something b4 I do something and u know what that is

He woke to find a tree had fallen on top of his collection. He did not bother to even go out and check on the damage but sat down to his coffee toast and morning paper. Only when he finished this did he head out, not with anguish but looking forward to the new styling challenges he would be faced with among the damaged trees. Not sure i could be as relaxed as that but It is always good to look from a different angle

hahaha wish I had that outlook. I'd be readying the chainsaw to take my anger out on the brach that fell
