Here is the Mexican White Cedar(at least that is what the label says) From what i can tell it has a nice trunk and root system. I think it could make a nice bonsai but im not really sure where to start. Can someone please help.

Well, i dont know a lot about this tree and dont know if it is a cedar. Not like what i have seen anyway. I can help on its progress though and i would open it up a bit foliage wise to see what is in there and give it a good feed. You would be safe repotting next spring and do the root work. I imagine someone more learned will chime in with the i.d.

"Cupressus" is not cedar, but cypress. That's an important distinction, because their growth habits are not quite the same. For instance, the cypress doesn't generally backbud like the cedar does, so you have to watch how you prune. You might find the video by Graham Potter useful and enjoyable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z_T0aXO2Cs

Best of luck,
