Is too much rain bad for my bonsai??

Hi I am kind of new to bonsai but I was wondering if to much rain is going to be bad for my bonsai,I have quite a few Bougainvilleas in the back yard should I shelter them for a little while or leave them it's being raining here in brisi for the past nearly 5 days..any replys would be appreciated thank you

as long as they can drain ok they should be fine....by the way I can't remember when our last rain was but it was so heavy :D the wet spots on the ground almost joined up

If they are in well draining mix they should be OK for a week or so, any olnger you might want to move them so the soil can dry out.
You can also tip the pot up so that less water will pool in the bottom of the mix

Just make sure with bougy's you don't have any carved or natural areas where the water can sit. They can rot pretty quickly :palm:

If it rains continuously for a week I tip my shallow tray type pots (trays less than 40 mm deep) up on one side with a wedge of wood. This way they drain a bit better (you can see heaps more water run out!). A little bit of water still pools near the lip when the pot is on an angle so the next day I tip it back the other way and so on. If you have trees with dead wood I recommend treating the wood with preservative some weeks before the wet season starts.

Thanks you guys tilted the pots works great lucky the weather has turned and its sunny so their all outside now

I wish i had that problem here, thers a big fire about 40km form me atm :(

Yes i have been keeping an eye on it. Scary things fires. We have had a few this year and certainly dont want anymore. Rains coming though and :fc: it puts it out for you.

Beautiful collection. doesnt even look like Sydney, looks like somewhere in Japanese mountains.
