Hi All,

I bought this Ficus Burt Davy about 3 years ago from nursery stock. What is your opinion on this tree? I have a few trees only, and not sure if this is a good tree. I personally love it, but would like some feedback from the experts.
The tree is approx. 25 cm in height.

It looks nice and healthy wich is great. Th rock and roots work well but something about th apex and branches do not look right
Th first branch on the left. A drop down rather than rise up
The next branc/ apex is heading the wrong way . The trunk movement is to the right but hat goes left
I would remove that one and build a rounds topped apex I using the next one

One idea ; However it would need to tilt forward a little !!!

A good project tree. I would be putting it back into the ground for a while (cover the rock) to encourage more root growth from the base. You would get a much better display of roots in the long run.

Thanks guys! This is exactly what I needed to know. A bit hesitant to chop half of the tree away after I have nurtured it for so long.

It all comes down to whether you enjoy the tree. The advice you have been given by other members is very good and I agree with them, generally. All of these guys are far more experienced than me and I cannot add to their advice about improving the tree...

However, If you love it? why change it? but if you want a more refined and established bonsai, be brave. Chop it back, pick a new trunk leader and put it in the ground or a large growing box for a few years.
