I am very much brand new to Bonsai trees being that i purchased my first one a couple of days ago. I picked up a Grafted Banyan Fig and was just wondering if anyone could give me a quick run down on how best to care for it? Things such as watering, how much sun light to give it, can it be kept in doors, ferterlisers, pruning etc would be great (:

I have no personal experience (plenty of others on the forums do though!) but I found this on the ausbonsai wiki for you :) Just a very general run down:

As ficus are tropical trees, they love warm / hot weather and require frequent watering, They are very hardy and will take to bot culture very well. They love free draining soil and lots of fertiliser will get the best out of the tree.

They should be repotted, root pruned, wired and Leaf trimmed during the warmer months only ( when miinimum temps get to above 16 Deg C).

Thats a great variety of tree to begin with as a bonsai. Just make sure you water it daily and its pretty much indestructible.

Howdy J, and welcome Ausbonsai
Ficus are hardy as hell and will cope well with abuse, but like all trees, do not let dry right out. Water regularly ( daily or even more if needed)

Check the links in my Signature for the wiki and you find some great info and places to start out too :-)
