Would it be possible to create a list of Australian bonsai potters with their websites and/or contact details? I've looked and haven't found much, and I'm really picky about the look of pots and want quality. If you know of any please post it below, and if we get enough sources the mods could pin it. Be nice to have it all in one place.

I'm no expert but i have enjoyed reading this gentlemen's blog 'bonsaipotterycoy.blogspot.com.au'. He seems dedicated to quality and hardiness.

He mainly does large pots but it may be worth a look for you.

I met Janet Selby at a bonsai show, and bought a couple of tiny pots from her. Her pots have a lovely Aussie bush kind of feel to them. I'd love to get some more.

I'd buy them all, they are gorgeous. That oval cream glaze would look so striking with a maple.

Even if they don't have a website, please list contact details. There's so much unseen talent.

Very impressed. I don't know what the Happy Potter's output is; but his pots look superb and extremely well presented. But terrific would seem to be the appropriate word. So good, I'd say he has a potential market overseas!

Personally I'm fed up with the Chinese rubbish. I would be interested if anyone can say how the happy potter's prices compare with buying from say the UK or the USA?

Well priced for the sizes. And it depends on who you buy from overseas. You can triple those prices plus shipping if you buy from certain artist, and they have a lot more choice over there. I would say that, from what I've seen of Aussie potters [which i not many], Happy Potter's pots resemble most what you can get from Europe.

Compared to the recent import (see for sale section) his current advertised prices are "reasonable".

Any hand made pot is going to be cost uncompetive to a slip-and-dip production line

I dabble in bonsai pots too. My name is Val Garth and it's just a hobby, from which I sell a few in the clubs I'm in, in Melbourne. And have been invited to sell at Geelong Club.

Also in Victoria, Castlemaine I think, or near it, is Trevor Wheeler. He is a good bonsai potter. Trevorpots@gmail.com is all I have, I buy pots from him at the bonsai shows up that way.
