If I cut a wedge to help bend a large branch will it fuse together?

I am not keen to use this method, it will fuse but will take a very long time, it will be something you will have to be aware of when repotting and styling.

Works nicely on conifers, but isn't to be recommended on broadleaves. I've got a blue spruce and a semi cascade juniper that have a number of V-cut bends and you wouldn't know they were there unless they were pointed out to you. They took 2 - 3 years to heal properly and in the first year I left the wire on. It's a fact that the heartwood at the centre of a trunk or branch won't repair itself, because it is dead. That does indeed make the V-cut site more vulnerable to handling, especially in the first year or so.

How much bend do you need and where on the branch Goff?
v notch is good to lower a branch at the base but will give a sharp, sudden bend in the middle of a branch. Splitting the branch or hollowing out may give better bends along the length of a branch or trunk.
