Hi all
Surely some of the people here who would have attended the AABC Convention last weekend must have an update of photos from the event. I haven't heard anything at all yet about it and how it went.
Anyone?

Here is what I received from our president who attended.
The Convention was excellent. Bill Valavanis was very good - very knowledgeable and informative. On the Saturday he restyled a pine that they auctioned at the Dinner and got $3000. On Sunday he gave a presentation on group/forest plantings then proceeded to create a very large forest with Seiju elms. He had 16 to choose from and used at least 13 (you don't count after 8 or 9). The larger trees would have been a couple of inches in diameter and 2-3 feet tall. They auctioned this at the end of the day and only got $1700.
Tony Bebb was his awesome self as usual. He loves to carve with his "arbortech"!
They also had a 4-man demo with the host club members using the usual Junipers, but they had not seen them before and were told what style they had to create.
And a 2 man demo with interstate demonstrators. Junipers again.
Next year the Convention is in Sydney, at Bankstown, with Salvatore
Liporace.

HI Guys
I was one of those 2 interstate guys doing the demo on the junipers the other one was Ian Lawson from Qld, very nice bloke & Bill was great.
Anyways heres a few pics of the tree that I styled, hope you all like it let me know.
My club, Illawarra Bonsai Society will be holding the next one so I hope you all can make it & yes it will be Salvatore Liporace as the headliner & Grant Bowie the supporting guest, to be held at Bankstown Sports Club. Ill post a link when I can.

Very nice transformation Skip!
Were you told what style to create or did they leave it to your judgment? How long did the restyle take mate?
Regards,
Steven

Hi Guys
Thanks for nice words, it was my first convention demo & I was nervous as hell. I was happy with the final outcome, we had an hour on stage & then I worked on the tree for a another hour or 2 to make sure it was completed for the Auction that night.
Yes Dave my name is Chris & I would be honoured to come down to your club, I am on the VTP AABC programe if that helps.

Thanks Skippy(Chris), yeah the pres did mention you were on the VTP list so all good there. We have Tony Bebb coming this year. Possibly in the future years to come and I can promise you that you'll love it at our club and you should have some excellent material to work on too.

Hmmmmm, what happened to the other posts that were in this thread. Have they been deleted? There were a few posts about people who had gone to the convention and they were informative and contradictory as well. Did the Mod's delete them?
