Hey all,

just wondering, I saw a tree today with a deeply fissured greyish bark - had causarina type foliage (looked really thin and floppy), except not segmented and fairly short like a pine...

Any idea on what this may be? Kind of looks like a pine tree if it made love to a eucalyptus.

did it have a redish undertone on the bark? If so, it may be a Persoonia liniaris (i think that's the correct spelling). A picture would be invaluable though!

It's a Casuarina not sure what type.

Hi Moganic sounds like a Hakea suaveolens This Aus native is sometimes refered to as an Australian pine.

Judging by the pictures, you can rule out the Persoonia liniaris that I suggested.

Any idea if these take well to air layers? Also would sphag and a bag work? And is now a good time?

Nothing like that mate, the road they're on is always busy and the only time I see them is on my way to and from work. Between the time I get home from work and the time I sleep, I have to fit in feeding cats, fish and myself, a work out, full time studies for herbal med and of course working on and caring for all the tree's I currently have. Friday night saturday business hours I'm out doing my internship. Then its straight off to the fiance's house to plan and assist with setting up for my engagement in a couple weeks.
I think it's a bit unfair to state that I can't be bothered.
Having said that, I'll wake up earlier tomorrow to take a pic for you.
